I got super excited when I first received my sewing machine. I went into old t-shirt piles and went on Youtube for this video "How to Sew a Pair of Leggings, two ways---for any age!" by Made Everyday
Instructions were rather simple.
Basically trace your favorite leggings, then add seam allowance, cut, and sew.
It went into a total disaster. And this is how I felt.
Don't get me wrong, it is indeed a great video tutorial, but probably not great for someone's first sewing project.
A few things I did wrong:
(1) I didn't understand knit fabrics.
(2) I didn't know how to sew knit fabrics.
(3) I didn't know seam allowance.
(4) I was new.
Okay, I think there's actually more I can list than I actually listed, but, it was NOT the best for a new sewist. I feel like free tracing, go for what you have, is not great for people who don't know what they're doing (aka me.)
Thankfully, hubby was nice enough and encourage me...
Anyway, my first ever sewing project was a total failure, but I think it's okay. Who doesn't have that experience?
I'll share about how I think it is the best for newbies (and I still am one) in another post.
Alright, enough talking. I'll see you in my next blog post! Stay tuned!
