Love Notions Glissando

Tami shared the Glissando (Affiliate link) sneak peek a while ago, giving everyone following Love Notions Instagram account huge anxiety and excitement on waiting for this new pattern for tester call and patter release. I was no exclusion.

Glissando pattern feature:

  • Ladies sizes from 0-32 (you may blend sizes as needed as well

  • Crop length, shorts, and skirt

  • Options for front/side and back pockets

  • Designed for light to medium weight woven fabrics

  • No-trim pages and print only your size

For the first make muslin, I used a linen fabric I got from Joann (Fabric link here) which wasn't my favorite fabrics, so I decided to go with it.

The fit was okay. I cannot quite see the fit in the back (which I later realized is SUPER crucial for fitted style bottoms) for a few reasons:

  1. This fabric is softer and has some stretch, which is more forgiven

  2. I had the back pockets on, which hide the "errors/misfitting"

  3. No one helped me to take the pictures! (I blame for hubby)

So, I went ahead and make another skirt with my real linen fabric, hoping to make for my final look, and there the fitting journey started...

You can see there were extra fabrics folding on the back of my skirt.

I was lost.

Then, Tami and Kelly (also, shout out to Nicole, my temporary mentor who helped me through the back rise issue) told me about the extra fabric issue.

This above image was shared by Tami (Love Notions owner) discussion about extra fabrics in the back rise.

And, here's what she explained:

Folds (like you can pinch an amount of fabric between your fingers):

  • Horizontal folds of fabric that means too much length.

  • Vertical folds of fabric that means too much width.

  • Diagonal folds of fabric that means too much length AND width.

-------------------

Draglines (not folds but more like stress):

  • Horizontal= not enough width

  • Vertical= not enough length

  • Diagonal= not enough width AND length

So, what I did.

  1. I cut the back darts off.

  2. I shortened 2.5" of the back rise (not adjusting the side seam)

  3. I drew a triangle to blend in the 2.5" off back rise and keeping the side seam length.

  4. I tape back the darts to keep the waistline.

Here's a link to SewDIY blog (https://www.sewdiy.com/blog/2019/adjust-rise-pants-pattern) explaining how to adjust the back rise.

And, here's my fit! Perfect for my back and I was crying out of joy when I finished this.

I am seriously in love with this skirt, and I made my interview outfit myself, so proud!

Glissando (Affiliate link) is definitely a must-have pattern.

I am planning on making another one using corduroy and I think would be super cute with an oversized sweater on the top!

Grad it while it's on releasing sale this week for $3 off!

Here's the link to purchasing Glissando (Affiliate link) on Love Notions (Affiliate link) and you can find other patterns too.

Alright, enough talking. I'll see you in my next blog post! Stay tuned!
