Love Notions La Bella Donna

When I sew the tester call of Love Notions La Bella Donna (Affiliate link), I applied without second-guessing cause I know I want to make something for the fall! Better start now than later, right?

Luckily, I was assigned for the long-sleeved hooded version, and I was just nervous and beyond excited.

So, first things first, cut the fabrics.

To be honest, I am not really sure what type of fabric this is. I got this from my mystery box from Mily Mae Fabrics (https://milymaefabricshop.com/) which was $35 for 10 yards (insane!!!)

The sewing itself was actually a lot easier and fast than I thought.

The first time I looked at the pattern, I thought it would be complicated. But, don't let the beauty scare you! This LBD is probably one of the easiest ones I have made.

Everything is very well lined, and the hood option was actually better and easier than I imagined!

For the hood, you basically sew them together, then attached, and that's all!

These were the fit photos of me finished making. From cutting to finish, I managed to do everything within a few hours in the afternoon. Some testers even finished making within less than 40 minutes (mind-blowing....), but it is super beginner-friendly.

I was obsessed with my make, this tie-dye on LBD is so pretty! Very soft and I just can't wait for the fall season to come and literally wear this beauty every single day.

Little one insisted to match my tie-dye with her cute little tie-dye onesie the daycare teacher made them for July 4th parade (last year...nothing fun this year happened). She's still petite and fit in all her outfits from last year, just tight enough to show off her little belly.

I actually like it so much that I made another one. This one I used DBP from Joann.

You can tell that fabric plays a bit part here, the DBP is more constructed and holds this top more in shape while the one from rayon spandex is more drapey and airly feeling.

What I love about this LBD is how classic, versatile, and easy to make it is! Short sleeves with lighter fabrics in the summer, my rayon spandex with hood (or crowl, how cute) in the spring/fall, and maybe DBP or french terry with hood (I am obsessed) in the winter.

Definitely add this to your pattern folder, and you won't regret it!

This pattern includes:

  • Ladies sizes from XS-5X

  • Shirt (option for band) and tunic (option with pockets) lengths

  • 3 sleeve options including short, 3/4 and long sleeves

  • Options for hood & crowl

  • No-trim pages and print only your size

Plus, LBD would be on sale for $5 for its re-release today (July 24th, 2020) for both women (Affiliate link) and girls (2T - 16) (Affiliate link). After Friday, the pattern will be $3 off until July 30th, 2020.

Again, this patter is the Love Notions La Bella Donna (Affiliate link).

Alright, enough talking. I'll see you in my next blog post! Stay tuned!
